Marta began playing baseball at just eight years old, and as the only girl on the team. Initially, she avoided softball, believing that girls weren't as strong as boys. Then came the Olympic qualifiers and she fell in love with the sport.

 

At age 12 Marta decided this was what she was born to do and set her sights on the Olympic Games. 

 

Now playing in Serie A, Marta has won three championship titles and two European Championships with the national team. In July she will be in Tokyo to realise her dream of participating in the Olympics.
